Yes in Montreal, Canada on Aug 26th, 2009. All is well. I got my h1b visa renewed for 3 years. They had to do electronic followup since my LIN is not found in PIMS. But I got my passport, visa next day at 3pm.

All this means is that USCIS is now working to gather data for the 100s of FOIA requests send in the past week for EB3, EB2 data by country by year etc... :-)

If we're thinking of the same thing, the cover letter basically is a simple letter that explains what is in the package and what is the purpose of the package/envelope/application. It enumerates all the documents enclosed, almost like a checklist. You don't have to enclose it but it'd be good to do so not just for you but also for the person opening your package so they know if you enclosed something that they're looking for. It kind of keeps the whole thing organized.

I am currently on H1 with company A. My I-140 has also been approved and my 1-485 was submitted in July- all through company A. Now company A is planning to close and open new company B. What happens to my I-485 and H1?
Any help gurus ?

It means nothing. The second 485 was denied since you already have a green card so
Adjustment of Status is not required.
BTW - why did you file two 485's ?

Hi Gurus,
I wanted to know if I can work for H-1B with my current company which holds my H-1B and work outside with another company on EAD. Is there a chance that I may loose my H-1B status if I work with EAD.

When you start using EAD you will lose H1 status. You can do multiple jobs on ead but not on H1

There are basically two big camps in the immigration reform debate and each has subsidiary interests that diverge in important respects from the bigger grou[. There is the pro-immigration camp which generally favors immigration reform proposals introduced over the last few years. Within the pro-immigration camp, there is the labor left which is in favor of legalization but balks at provisions that would provide temporary or permanent visas to workers that might come in the future. Last month dates were 7 Jan 2005.
This month dates are 22 Jan 2005.
Still the reported Jan 2005 approvals(, IV ) etc are less than 5.
Not sure whats happening to these

Hi
I have applied for I-140 thro Substitute in March 2006(15 months ago) and I got a query on my education and company financial status in August 06 and attorney replied back to query in the month of October 2006.
When I check my status online shows as "we received your application on October 20th 2006 and in process".
Last month there was an updated date on 05/25/07 on my case and when i checked with employer, he says we have not yet received any information from USCIS to attorney.
Now the attorney says, we will be Re-filing my case, as one case got denial from my company (Not mine itseems). So that we will get new Receipt Number as I have only 8 Months left on my H1 and we can apply for 1 year extension meanwhile before 6 months of H1 expiry.
Is it a good idea to re-file I-140 from the same Service Center(NSC)?
or Can I apply in PERM now as I have only 8 months on my H1.
Pl. suggest.

The Washington Post reports on data released from the Border Patrol. I sent my 485 to NSC in July 2007 and got the receipt from NSC after 2 months. I filed my wifes 485 in first week of August 2007 to NSC but got the receipt from TSC. We live in Texas but our employer was from NJ when i applied 485. After that we have been applying for EAD and AP regulary at respective service centers with out any issues.
1. Has any one been in this situation and got their GC approved?
2. Do i need to request my wife's application to be moved to NSC if that can be done?
I am few days short of getting current and hope this doesn't delay approving our cases.

Should we file separate? Or should I file only one application heither through my employer or hers?

The USCIS has announced that most employment-based (EB) immigrant petitions (I-140s) will be eligible for premium processing starting June 29, 2009.
