I received good news on June 1, 2007 that my I-140 is approved. It was received by USCIS on May 22, 2007. Then later that day I saw the new immigration bill. If this very unreasonable bill (EB backlog) will be passed the wasting of all the money, time, stress, anxiety and hope towards the GC procedure will make the whole thing look like a bitter joke. This is beyong my wildest imagination on how bad things can go since we are all hard-working and law-abiding legal immigrants. Is it a punishment for being a good member of society?
I'm praying that it will not be given any consideration by those who have powers.

My point - I am going to take things in a stride, basically wait till I can - doesn't hurt me as long as I go about my daily routine.
All who are thinking of jumping the fence and giving up, one piece of advice - if you do not have kids and plan to have any in this life, please do it NOW - have them be born here (all of them) and then move on with whatever / wherever you want to go.
At least this is a gift you will be giving your kids for their lifetime and all the generations following them (remember - a US citizen's kid can be a US citizen no matter where he/she is born) - so you will be arranging US citizenship for all your great^n * grand * kids (0 <= n <= infinity) !
This is how I think about it when I do not think about MYSELF. Once the kids are born, you can flaunt their American Passports and feel happy in their well-being and security (for whatever it is worth) and move on to Canada / India / Singapore / wherever! Live happily.
And do not forget your kids can sponsor you when they are 21.

First of all why do U wanna ask that? Its an employment based visa that ur GC is based on. So, ur employer shud ask that. Why are u asking IVans to do something which is not in their control??? I keep getting red and dont mind if I'm banned. But excuse me...u r misleading IVans. My point is this. We can protest, rally based on the delay. Thats pretty much we can do. Inquiring into a Government agency's internal affairs is none of ur business. And I repeat u dont have any rights to do that as u have NO direct link to USCIS. U have applied thru ur employer and ur employer shud speak for u. Do u even get it? Ur statements and arguments have no logic whatsoever and misleading.

it does say that H1B ext beyond 6 years can not be granted if there is not underlying pending process for GC (LC, 140 or 485).
However it does not talk about 'what happens if an ext is already granted'? so it still remains gray area. did I understand correctly?

I agree with you "Astronomical tution fee" for childern, pay Mortgage, renewel of EAD/AP's..so on & on...
In a situation like us..I contribute IV with my limitations (every month!) + involving myself in web faxes plus..Calling Senators / Congressmans etc..
For those of you continually pushing for donations having a son in college on an F1 makes it impossible for me to donate since the tuition fees are astronomical.

Would it help to call senator Specter's office to find out what he feels about the chances of his bill? Will it get a chance to go through all the amendements by the committe or Senate Leader will table his own bill on 27th?

So far as locating old PDs are concerned, it USCIS knows it exists and if there is willinglness, they can dig it out from anywhere.
On the other hand , if this not fixed then even if there are 200K extra visas, the sufferings will persist.
True - it has to be fixed. We must send a strong signal. Otherwise, they will ignore old PDs, look at wikipedia, alipac etc.... to adjujicate cases

Its only Green card and I am not sure why people get upset big deal. Nobody asked us to move here. And if there is a system in place we cannot be saying its bad and this and that. My PD is DEC 04 do I feel bad someone in 2006 gets it. YES. Is the system crappy yes. I have a MS in US. So all this hoopla about US ms are getting it and not us is wrong. The other question is should I be getting it over others who dont have a MS from US. I believe yes we should.
but thats my thoughts on the subject if someone does not like it I respect his thoughts.

After the july fiasco, USCIS need not have to worry about recieving huge applications if they move the dates forward. Since almost all the folks (except for folks stuck at BEC) would have turned in the applications uscis should be able to move the dates forward for FY08 to a big extent , so that visa numbers are not wasted.

i had run these numbers a while back. for sure EB2 will reach the end of 2005 this year. i just hope its done systematically so that they clear everybody with an EB2 2005 PD this year.
Trust me, my friend - I surely believe in systematic movement and by this june/july it will be Dec05 or beyond. Dates for EB2 have stayed around apr04 for really longer and then suddenly to 06. Very few perms were cleared in 05 (as per your posting). It should logivcally be past 2005 , never to go back.BTW ,we missed GC last aug/sept lotto

My DL expring in Sept. filed for 10th year extenison, I live in NY.
NY DL have 2 dates, One in Top with RED Bold letters its called Temp Visa Date and at botton DL exprie date. I have contacted in DMV office. They said I can drive using bottom Exprie date which is exprie in 2010(mine) ,But I cant use the DL as ID if Temp VISA expire on DL.Unless I renew it with approved H1B visa date.So I have to Carry Passport ,recepit copy and Employer lettter with all time just as proof if cop caught me.

Receipting people are not the ones adjudicating the cases. They are different people. So there is no used stopping the receipting.
If this news is true, then we can see "wild" approvals before the end of September. Some people with complete cases may overtake others.
Its already end of September, today is the last working day for the month of Sep and moreover do you think the IOs at USCIS are determined to allocate/ use all the visa numbers for this fiscal year??? HELL NO , they give a rat's a** about it and that is why we din't see any "wild" approvals.
